Understanding Overdraft Protection
We understand that things happen. Unexpected financial challenges can catch you off guard. That is why Curis Financial Credit Union offers several options to help cover transactions in the event of an emergency or financial miscalculations. Our overdraft solutions ensure that your financial transactions are processed seamlessly, protecting you from unnecessary fees and the hassle of returned payments.
An overdraft occurs when you don’t have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. At Curis Financial Credit Union, we may be able to cover your overdrafts in two different ways: Overdraft Protection and Overdraft Privilege (ODP).
- Overdraft Protection is an optional service that allows us to use the available funds from your designated linked account(s) to authorize or pay your transaction(s) when you do not have enough available funds in your checking account. You may link up to two of your eligible accounts (one savings, one credit) to your checking account which may help minimize overdraft fees.Make sure your checking account is linked to your designated savings and/or line of credit by calling us at 803-978-2101. You may apply for a Curis Financial line of credit on our website, through our mobile app, by or visiting a branch. Apply online today!
- Overdraft Privilege (ODP) is a service offered by the Credit Union in which qualified account holders may overdraw their checking account up to the disclosed limit for a fee in order for us to pay a transaction if the account has insufficient available funds.
We pay overdrafts through Overdraft Privilege at our discretion. This means we do not guarantee that Overdraft Privilege will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction may be declined or returned unpaid, and a fee may apply.
